Mary Lou Aleskie, Festival Executive Director
Tusuykusun Peru

DURATION 1 hour
LOCATION United Church, 323 Temple Street
Mary Lou Aleskie, Executive Director of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, will give a preview of this summer’s Festival at a free public lecture sponsored by East Rock Village.

Ms. Aleskie will describe the historical background of arts festivals as well as the impact of the Festival in New Haven. She will also talk about the 2010 Festival’s theme of the intertwining of traditional and contemporary art. Her presentation will include local performers  Tusuykusun Peru showing contemporary arts that have evolved from traditional forms.

East Rock Village, a new nonprofit organization that helps people stay in their homes as they age, is a charitable organization that sets aside a percentage of membership for people of modest means. Village Vice President Jane Jervis said there is an affinity between East Rock Village and the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, both of which support the concept of providing services for the entire community regardless of income.
