Regicide Ride: Retrace the History of Fugitive Judges Whalley, Goffe & Dixwell
For several weeks in the spring and summer of 1661, the fugitive judges Edward Whalley and William Goffe, wanted for having signed the death warrant for King Charles I in 1649, hid from British authorities in Judges' Cave atop West Rock. Retrace history and visit Judges' Cave, with stops at points of interest on each of the streets named for Whalley, Goffe and the third regicide, John Dixwell.
The best way to see
has a vibrant cycling community, and throughout the Festival volunteers from Elm City Cycling will lead tours of the city and surrounding communities. There are rides for all skill and experience levels. See the sights, learn more about history, and discover some of the exciting things happening in the area on these Bike Tours.
Bring a bike, spare tube to fit the wheel (mechanical assistance for minor repairs available), water, food, and sunscreen. Properly fit helmets are required.
