Graphic Design Assistant

Start Date: May 1 (flexible)
End Date: June 27
Schedule: Full-time preferred, part-time possible

Working under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Graphic Design Assistant will focus on projects and production of marketing materials requiring graphic design creativity and skills. Design Assistants will work within existing design templates and established branding guidelines to create engaging and attractive materials. The Festival employs an outside graphic design firm for the creation of major design elements; the Design Assistant will focus on in-house production of advertisements, print collateral (handouts, program inserts), digital elements for web and email, and signage, among other projects.

Receptionist

Schedule: Hourly, Part-Time to Full-Time

The Festival Receptionist will provide excellent front-line customer service to both callers and visitors, answering routine inquiries, and referring others to the appropriate staff member. The receptionist will provide general administrative support to Festival staff, and assist in the orientation of incoming staff and crew. Requirements: Must have excellent customer service, administrative, and organizational skills; ability to calmly manage multiple phone lines and simultaneous requests. Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Access database ability preferred.

ARTIST SERVICES

Artist Driver

Number Required: 3
Start Date: On or about June 6
End Date: On or about June 28
Schedule: Full-time

Artist Drivers meet the transportation needs of artists (and artist’s gear), members of Festival staff, and VIPs, using Festival-rented vehicles. Transportation needs range from NYC airport pick up and drop-offs to local transportation between hotels and venues. Requirements: Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have a clean driving record. Drivers must be able to drive a 15 passenger van and have a general knowledge of the Greater New Haven area. Drivers are expected to assist with the loading and unloading of materials, luggage, and equipment. A friendly demeanor and an easy-going personality are big plusses!

Artist Services Coordinator

Number Required: 3
Start Date: Various – as early as May 25
End Date: June 29
Schedule: Full-time

Artist Services Coordinators are the principle liaison between artists and the Festival. ASCs are each assigned several companies and will fulfill artist needs as well as communicate/coordinate artist needs with appropriate Festival departments including Production, Public Relations, Audience Services, and Hospitality. Requirements: Theatrical Company Management or related experience required. Must have calm and efficient problem solving and multi-tasking abilities as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. ASCs must be “people-persons”, able to effectively communicate not only with artists from all over the world, but also with technicians and managers.

Hospitality Assistants

Schedule: Full-time & hourly positions

Hospitality Assistants are responsible for the organization, delivery, set-up and strike of artist green room food, beverages, and other hospitality items. Hospitality Assistants also set up and strike post-show receptions, and act as hosts throughout these events. Requirements: Must be organized and have the ability to safely lift 25 lbs. Able to set-up/strike food quickly, cleanly, efficiently, and unobtrusively; and have a flair with flowers, food, and fun.

AUDIENCE SERVICES

Audience Services Team Member

No. Required: 5-10
Start date: On or about June 9. Must be available for an orientation meeting.
End date: On or before June 27
Schedule: Hourly, TBD

Audience Service Team Members provide on-site box office and house management services at Festival events. Theatrical House Management and/or Box Office experience preferred. Must be calm and pleasant under pressure; genuinely welcoming, and always mindful of the safety and comfort of patrons. Must have excellent customer service skills, and be comfortable managing crowds. Must have the ability to manage teams of volunteer ushers, and quickly and accurately calculate, complete, and record ticket sales. Apply via the instructions below.

VIDEOGRAPHY

Festival Videographer

End Date: On or About July 2

The Festival Videographer is responsible for recording and editing video content of events occurring prior to and during the Festival. The Videographer will prepare content for broadcast through multiple media, including preparing DVDs and uploading material to the Festival’s website and other commercial websites. The Festival videographer will assist in the supervision of 3-4 Video Interns and help oversee their scheduling and job performance. Requirements: Professional experience creating original video content for broadcast required. Must have expertise in the operation of video camera equipment, and be knowledgeable about lighting and audio for film. Proficiency with Mac audio/video editing systems, and most commonly used video uploading protocols. Work samples required upon request.

Audio Crew

The Festival Audio Crew works under the direction of the Audio Supervisor to install, operate and strike audio systems at all Festival venues and events. Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current audio systems, some experience of live mixing; and the ability to work with artists and the general public. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Lighting Crew

The Festival Lighting Crew works under the direction of the Lighting Supervisor to install, operate, and strike lighting systems at all Festival venues and events Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current lighting equipment, ability to hang and cable a plot under supervision; and basic board programming skills. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Operations Crew/Drivers

Schedule: Full-time

Operations crew members work under the direction of the Operations Coordinator in the safe and timely installation, strike, and storage of a broad array of infrastructure elements, equipment, and signage; and the distribution and retrieval of materials, collateral, and supplies. Requirements: Hardworking and strong. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds. Good communication skills, flexible, good humored. Three of the four crew members must also be drivers, age 25 or over with a clean driver’s license, comfortable driving a cargo van and mid-sized box truck.

Outdoor Event Crew/Carpenters

The Greens Crew work under the Tech Director (Outdoor) to install, maintain and strike all Festival scenic elements and properties. Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of theatrical carpentry, ability to use hand tools and some shop tools under supervision. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Tour Production Assistant Intern

Schedule: Part-time

The Tour Assistant Interns are responsible for setting up signage for the starting points of walking and biking tours. Greeting and welcoming tour groups, talking about Festival events, and introducing tour leaders. Requirements: Must have an outgoing personality and ability to speak before large groups of people. Ability to lift and carry signage, good navigational skills, and adequate skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Outdoor work required. This is an unpaid internship.
