The City of New Haven will hold their second annual "Tent City" community fundraiser on November 19 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the Green, in order to address homelessness and to keep the overflow shelter open during the winter. Tent City began in 2008, and it is the hope of the City to promote the same spirit of community this year while raising awareness of homelessness issues.
In this challenging economy, homeless funding is limited. Without appropriate resources, more than 100 people in New Haven could be out in the cold this winter. The staff of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas will spend the evening on the Green to help raise awareness of homelessness.
