Bill T. Jones to be celebrated at Kennedy Center Honors on December 5

Congratulations to Bill T. Jones, one of the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors recipients. Joining Bill this year on December 5 are Merle Haggard, Jerry Herman, Paul McCartney, and Oprah Winfrey.

Bill T. Jones took part in a conversation with Elizabeth Alexander as part of the 2010 Festival's Ideas programs. The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company performed Blue Phrase, Ballad, Soon, and Some Songs as part of the 1997 Festival.

Be sure to watch the gala broadcast on Tuesday, December 28 on CBS.

Arts & Ideas Fellow Ed Chase receives scholarship from Connecticut Chapter of National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials

Ed Chase of Seymour, one of the inaugural Arts & Ideas Fellows in 2010, is the recipient of a $3,500 scholarship from the Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (CONN-NAHRO). The International Festival of Arts & Ideas Fellowship Program will be offered this coming Fall 2010. The Fellowship Program is specifically designed to give high school juniors and seniors exposure to careers in the arts, as they prepare to pursue college and/or enter the workforce. The program combines instruction in critical writing, nonprofit management and various performing arts disciplines, with opportunities for job shadowing and hands-on work experience around Festival events.
