Global Jazz Sampler: The Guy Mintus Trio: A Gershwin Playground

Pianist Guy Mintus blasts musical boundaries by combining elements from Stride piano to Turkish Makams, Indian rhythms to Bach-styled counterpoint, Jewish melodies and American jazz. Based in Tel Aviv and New York, Mintus draws inspiration from his Iraqi, Moroccan, and Polish-Jewish heritage. This evening the Guy Mintus Trio will be performing original music and songs from their recent album 'A Gershwin Playground.'

Please utilize the Ruden St entrance to campus (for GPS, utilize 105 Ruden St, West Haven, CT) and follow the directional signs to parking. Please do not utilize the main entrance to campus on Boston Post Rd. Once you have parked please proceed to Bucknall Theater via the directional signage or by utilizing this map hereAdditional parking for those who can utilize stairs can be found at our Charger Plaza lot located off of Campbell Avenue (1209 Campbell Ave, West Haven, CT) and can follow the directions here to Dodds Hall (you will cross the street at the crosswalk, and proceed directly up the stairs ahead and at the top of the stairs take a left).

Guy Mintus

Israeli pianist and composer Guy Mintus is a true citizen of the world. Coming from a mixed heritage of Iraqi, Moroccan & Polish Jews, he is based between Tel Aviv and New York while constantly on the go having recently performed in Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Switzerland, France, Germany and different cities in the US/ Canada. Guy is equally at home whether he’s sharing the stage with jazz legends, composes for classical orchestras, collaborates with masters of traditional music, working with kids or guesting as a soloist with Ska-Punk band Streetlight Manifesto with whom he performed at a sold out Beacon Theater.
