Music for Change: The 60’s - The Years That Changed America

Explore the social, political and cultural upheavals of the 1960s through the music of the Kronos Quartet. The ensemble performs Zachary J. Watkins’s Peace Be Till, which is inspired by the moment just before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech and features the voice of Dr. King's speechwriter and friend Dr. Clarence B. Jones. The program also includes a celebration of the music of political activist and American folk music icon Pete Seeger. Kronos strives to fearlessly explore new musical territory, dedicated to reinventing the string quartet format with every piece.

“The quartet remains as geographically, politically and spiritually feisty as ever. Forget about genre; Kronos made that an irrelevant term ages ago.” (Los Angeles Times)
