Yareli Calderon
Amid the pandemic, The Festival Fellows participated in the Babel Film Workshop global stay-at-home filmmaking initiative, Film Stylo. Their films, made as part of the initiative, are featured here and on the Film Stylo international archive of student films documenting their lives during this historical time. Below is Yareli's Film Stylo project.
Yareli Calderon
Yareli (she/her) is a junior at Wilbur Cross High School who is passionate about the arts and her power to help others. As a Cancer, born on July 4th, her nurturing personality and sensitivity will bring her a long way, blessing her with emotional strength and understanding. Her caring and empathetic nature encourages her to reach out to those in need, whether it be through her actions or through her writing. She finds joy in singing, dancing, drawing, and even filming, but her voice shines through her writing. Writing is the bridge between her heart and the world. It is why she joined the Arts and Ideas Fellowship program, to reach those who struggle to feel heard. She went in nervous and shy, and through encouraging experiences with her creative peers, she grew both emotionally and mentally. Deep down, Yareli is carefree and adventurous. She loves nature, animals, food, and music. In the future, she wishes to tackle the complexity of the mind by studying psychology and spreading that knowledge with the people around her.
