Men are accustomed to traveling the world, looking for rivers and mountains, new stars, birds of gay-colored plumage, monstrous fishes, ridiculous races of men; they abandon themselves to an animal stupor and gaze openmouthed at life, believing that they have seen something. None of these things interest me at all.
To be able to fall in such a way as to appear at once standing and walking, to be able to transform the leap into life into a normal gait, to be able to express perfectly the sublime in terms of the pedestrian - only the knight can do this - and this is the single miracle.
