Festival Fellows: Jonathan Rosario

    by Jonathan Rosario

My name is Jonathan Rosario. I am a senior at Metropolitan Business Academy. I am an art administration intern working under the supervision of my mentor Rachel Shapiro. I assist with administrative tasks, helping Rachel organize past events of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas by year. I was informed about the Fellowship Program through Rachel, she thought it would be helpful for me to get a full experience of the Arts & Ideas organization. I was thrilled to enter the program because I wanted to be involved in something where I would have the chance to try something different. I have learned how to keep a business organized and keep file of anything important, such as business financial statements, and so much more. I plan to have fun this summer for the 15th annual Arts & Ideas Festival - packed with excitement and creativity from foreign artists from all around the world. I am very appreciative to be an Arts & Ideas Fellow representing a motivational team for future success. Through this program I have also built my leadership skills. I plan to hone my leadership, interpersonal and public relation skills so that when I own a business or work for an organization, I will know what first steps I will have to take. When I first walked into the offices of the Arts & Ideas for a fellowship program session, I was questioning myself, “Why was I in this program? I want to become a doctor not an artist.” I then began to find out why I accepted the opportunity to be a part of the fellowship program. In my spare time, I like to do abstract painting because it gives me the freedom to express my views of the world. I also like to draw animated stick figures.
