Dolores Huerta
Founder & President of the Dolores Huerta Foundation
Dolores Huerta is a civil rights activist and community organizer. She has worked for labor rights and social justice for over 50 years. In 1962, she and Cesar Chavez founded the United Farm Workers union. She served as Vice President and played a critical role in many of the union’s accomplishments for four decades. In 2002, she received the Puffin/Nation $100,000 prize for Creative Citizenship which she used to establish the Dolores Huerta Foundation (DHF). DHF is connecting groundbreaking community-based organizing to state and national movements to register and educate voters; advocate for education reform; bring about infrastructure improvements in low-income communities; advocate for greater equality for the LGBT community; and create strong leadership development. She has received numerous awards: among them The Eleanor Roosevelt Humans Rights Award from President Clinton in 1998. In 2012 President Obama bestowed Dolores with The Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
Camila Güiza-Chavez

Camila gained a passion for organizing against injustice by watching the work of her parents and learning from the rich political history of her home, the Bay Area. She moved to New Haven to attend Yale, where she studied Ethnicity, Race, and Migration as an undergraduate. She soon realized that the real education she was seeking would come from working alongside organizers in the immigrant justice movement in New Haven, many of whom she continues to build with today as part of a group called Semilla Collective. Camila is currently Co-Director at Havenly, an organization dedicated to building community power with immigrant and refugee women.
MariCarmen Godoy
Maricarmen Godoy is a news anchor and regional editor of La Voz Hispana de Connecticut, and WNHH 103.5FM La Voz Radio. She is the Founder and Creative Director of En Vivo con Maricarmen Inc, non-profit organization dedicated to building equity in communication through live news, interviews, and music. A columnist for the Fairfield County Catholic newspaper, she was awarded the National Scholarship for Hispanic Journalism from the Organization of American States (OAS) and is regarded as one of the most influential journalists in the State. She has 25 years trajectory in written press, radio and as a cultural promoter and international manager of emerging Latino artists. Among her main coverages include unaccompanied Central American children; Pope Francis’ first visit to Mexico, Ecuador and the United States; the first woman repatriated from an American jail to her home country (Ecuador); the first Hispanic priest to resign from the church accused of sexual crimes. She became the first journalist in the world to arrive at Sandy Hook, Newtown to testify to the murder of children in an elementary school in the United States. She has held special assignments in Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador, the US border. She has taught seminars Hispanic journalism at the University of Guaranda-Ecuador and served as teaching assistant of the International Meeting of Journalistic Studies at the University of Connecticut. She is the co-founder of the Stamford Ecuadorian Civic Committee, and a board member of the Norwalk-Riobamba Sister Cities organization. Maricarmen holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Communication, specializing in Television from the Central University of Ecuador and an Early Childhood Development Certificate from Norwalk Community College.

Es la fundadora y directora creativa de En Vivo con Maricarmen Inc, organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a generar equidad en la comunicación a través de noticias en vivo, entrevistas y música.
Columnista del periódico católico del condado de Fairfield, (Fairfield County Catholic newspaper). Recibió la Beca Nacional del Periodismo Hispano de la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) y es considerada una de las periodistas más influyentes del estado.
Tiene 25 años de trayectoria en prensa escrita, radio y como promotora cultural y gestora internacional de artistas latinos emergentes.
Entre sus principales coberturas se encuentran los niños centroamericanos no acompañados ingresan por la frontera; La primera visita del Papa Francisco a México, Ecuador y Estados Unidos; la primera mujer repatriada de una cárcel estadounidense a su país de origen (Ecuador); el primer sacerdote hispano en renunciar a la iglesia acusado de delitos sexuales.
Se convirtió en la primera periodista del mundo en llegar a Sandy Hook, Newtown para testificar sobre el asesinato de niños en una escuela primaria en los Estados Unidos. Ha tenido asignaciones especiales en México, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Perú, Ecuador, la frontera de Estados Unidos. Ha impartido seminarios de periodismo hispano en la Universidad de Guaranda-Ecuador y se desempeñó como profesora asistente del Encuentro Internacional de Estudios Periodísticos de la Universidad de Connecticut.
Es cofundadora del Comité Cívico Ecuatoriano de Stamford y miembro de la junta directiva de la organización Ciudades Hermanas Norwalk-Riobamba. Maricarmen tiene una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Comunicación Social, con especialización en Televisión de la Universidad Central de Ecuador y un Certificado de Desarrollo Infantil Temprano de Norwalk Community College.
