The International Festival of Arts & Ideas takes place in New Haven, Connecticut on the New Haven Town Green and in venues throughout the city.
By car
New Haven is at the intersection of major interstate highways I-91 and I-95.
By Metro-North train
The Festival is a single easy train ride from New York City on Metro-North's New Haven line, from New York City's Grand Central Terminal to New Haven's Union Station, stopping at Stamford and points in Fairfield County all the way to New Haven. Trains depart every hour (and every half-hour during peak times).
A FREE Downtown-Union Station shuttle with special weekend hours during the Festival, or taxi cabs, provide service from New Haven Union Station to downtown and the Festival.
By Shoreline East train
The Festival is an easy ride down the New London line to New Haven, with stops all the way down the shoreline. Take the train to New Haven-State Street station (three block walk from the New Haven Green) or to New Haven Union Station. Weekend service is now running! Shoreline East added weekend trains as of June 1, 2013. The 10:07 out of New Haven State Street is perfect for enjoying the Festival! (Please check Shoreline East schedules for the most recent information.)

By regional rail & bus
New Haven is on Amtrak's Northeast Corridor, with the Northeast Regional and Acela Express trains providing regular service to Boston, Providence, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and points in between. Megabus offers regular bus service from Hartford, Boston, and New York City to New Haven Union Station.

By plane
In New Haven, Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) provides regional air service to Philadelphia and connecting points beyond. Bradley International Aiport (BDL), located near Hartford and about 50 minutes from New Haven, provides service and connections to major cities throughout the United States from major U.S. airlines. New York-area airports, including John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Newark Airport (EWR), located about 2 hours away from New Haven, provide international service and direct coast-to-coast domestic flights. Airport transfers are available via Connecticut Limosine's GO Shuttle, QConn Shuttle, and a variety of other services.
